Třinec

Třinec is a city in the Frýdek-Místek District of the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic, on the Olza River along the border with Poland, and is an important cultural center for the country's Polish minority. It has about 34,000 inhabitants, the fewest of any statutory city in the country, and was probably founded in the second half of the 14th century, but only became a town in 1931 amid the industrial growth driven by the Třinec Iron and Steel Works, still the country's only steel producer and a major influence on the city's character.
