Trzebiatow

Trzebiatow is a town in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship of northwestern Poland, on the Rega River about 9 kilometers south of the Baltic coast, with a population of 10,119 in 2016 and seat of Gmina Trzebiatow within Gryfice County. Established in the 9th century as a fortified settlement, it became part of Poland under Mieszko I around 967, received formal town privileges in 1277, and developed as a Hanseatic League trading post from 1416. Its Old Town is a protected historical monument with Gothic churches, medieval defensive walls and towers, and a preserved market square, and the town passed through several changes of sovereignty before becoming part of Poland again in 1945.
