Ubon Ratchathani, often shortened to Ubon, is a city in northeastern Thailand and the administrative center of Ubon Ratchathani province, about 497 kilometers from Bangkok. Its city municipality had 67,555 registered residents as of December 2025, while its broader urban area held about 224,338 people and its conurbation with Warin Chamrap totaled around 390,886, ranking it among the four largest cities in the Isan region alongside Nakhon Ratchasima, Udon Thani and Khon Kaen. The city is internationally known for its annual Candle Festival, held each July.
