Üsküdar

Üsküdar is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey, on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus. It borders Beykoz to the north, Ümraniye to the east, Ataşehir to the southeast, and Kadıköy to the south, and faces several European side neighborhoods across the strait. The district covers 35 square kilometers and had a population of approximately 524,452 as of the 2022 census. Üsküdar has been a conservative cultural center of the Anatolian side of Istanbul since Ottoman times, distinguished by its many mosques and dervish lodges known as dergahs.
