Vaiaku is a settlement on the southern coast of Fongafale, the main islet of Funafuti atoll in Tuvalu, and functions as the country's de facto administrative center, though Funafuti as a whole rather than Vaiaku alone is the formal capital. Its 462 residents at the 2017 census live at a population density of about 4,200 people per square kilometer, and the village holds the government offices, the National Bank of Tuvalu, and the Vaiaku Langi Hotel, Tuvalu's only hotel.
