Vigan is a component city and the capital of Ilocos Sur province, on the western coast of Luzon in the Philippines own Ilocos Region. Founded by Juan de Salcedo in 1572 and chartered as a city in 2001, it had a 2024 census population of 54,498 across 25.12 square kilometers. UNESCO listed the Historic City of Vigan as a World Heritage Site in 1999 as the best preserved example of a Spanish colonial town in Asia, and in 2015 Vigan was named one of the New7Wonders Cities.
