Vrbovsko

Vrbovsko is a town in western Croatias Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, at the eastern edge of the mountainous Gorski Kotar region and roughly halfway between Zagreb and Rijeka. First mentioned in a document dated February 22, 1481, freeing the citizens of Gric from tariffs, it was declared a royal free city in 1785 and upgraded from municipality to city status in 1997. The municipality covers about 280 square kilometers and includes 60 settlements; the Kamacnik canyon is its main tourist draw. The 2021 census recorded 3,876 residents across the township, with 1,257 living in the urban center.
