Wabag is the capital of Enga Province in Papua New Guinea, on the Lai River along the Highlands Highway at an elevation of 2,000 meters, with a population of about 4,072 as of 2000, the least populous provincial capital in the country. Europeans first reached the area in 1938 and 1939, when a radio camp and airstrip were established.
