Wagga Wagga is a major regional city on the Murrumbidgee River in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia, roughly midway between Sydney and Melbourne. It is the ninth largest inland city in Australia and an agricultural, military and transport hub, with an urban population of 57,003 at the 2021 census; the Wiradjuri people are its original inhabitants, and the town was surveyed in 1849, incorporated as a municipality in 1870 and proclaimed a city in 1946.
