Warrnambool is a city on the south-western coast of Victoria, Australia, about 265 kilometers southwest of Melbourne, on the Princes Highway at the western end of the Great Ocean Road. It recorded a population of 32,894 at the 2021 census and was established in 1855, taking its name from Mount Warrnambool, a volcanic cone about 25 kilometers northeast of the city that also gave its name to an Aboriginal clan of the area. Its traditional Indigenous custodians are the Dhauwurd Wurrung, also known as the Gunditjmara.
