Weesp is a city on the river Vecht in North Holland, Netherlands, merged into the municipality of Amsterdam on 24 March 2022 after a 2018 referendum, with a 2021 population of about 20,445. Granted city rights in 1355, it was heavily fortified as part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and became known from 1759 for producing the first Dutch porcelain and later for Van Houten chocolate manufacturing.
