Werben (Elbe) is a town on the left bank of the Elbe river in the Stendal district of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, about seven kilometers west of Havelberg, and carries the official designation of Hansestadt. First documented in 1005, it received town rights in 1151 from Albert the Bear and joined the Hanseatic League in 1358. The town was the site of the Battle of Werben during the Thirty Years War in 1631 and became part of the Kingdom of Prussia in 1701; it absorbed the former municipality of Behrendorf in January 2010. As of December 2024 it had 899 residents.
