Whyalla is a city on the eastern coast of South Australia's Eyre Peninsula, Australia, originally founded as Hummock's Hill before its renaming in 1916. It is the fourth most populous city in South Australia after Adelaide, Mount Gambier and Gawler, and together with Port Pirie and Port Augusta forms the Iron Triangle. Known as the Steel City for its integrated steelworks and shipbuilding heritage, with iron ore exports beginning in 1903, it had a population of 20,880 at the 2021 census.
