Yala is a city in southern Thailand and the seat of both Mueang Yala District and Yala Province. It lies about 137 kilometers by road southeast of Hat Yai, near the border with Pattani Province, and is roughly 1,100 kilometers south of Bangkok. The city sits on Thailand Route 4106 and is served by Yala railway station on the State Railway of Thailand's Southern Line. As of 2019, the eastern part of the city, part of the neighboring tambon of Sateng Nok, had a population of 60,617.
