Zaozhuang is a prefecture-level city in the south of Shandong province, China, bordering Jining to the west and north, Linyi to the east, and Jiangsu province to the south; since January 2019 it has been the smallest prefecture-level city in Shandong. The city was the site of the Battle of Taierzhuang during the Second Sino-Japanese War in 1938, a conflict that had a significant impact on Zaozhuang.
