Zarasai is a city in northeastern Lithuania, in the Aukštaitija region, surrounded by several lakes, including Lake Zarasas to the north, Lake Zarasaitis to the southeast, Lake Baltas, and Lake Griežtas to the east, two of which are linked by the Laukesa River. The city holds the record for Lithuania's highest recorded daytime temperature, 37.5 degrees Celsius, set on 30 July 1994, and hosts summer music festivals including Mėnuo Juodaragis and Roko naktys.
