Zutphen is a city and municipality in the Dutch province of Gelderland, about 30 kilometers northeast of Arnhem, on the eastern bank of the river IJssel where it is joined by the Berkel. First mentioned in the 11th century under a place name that appears to mean south fen, it absorbed the municipality of Warnsveld in 2005 while keeping its own name, and had a population of 48,111 in 2021.
