Sukhothai Kingdom

Historical kingdom, South-eastern Asia (1238-1438)

The Sukhothai Kingdom was a post-classical Siamese kingdom in mainland Southeast Asia, centred on the ancient city of Sukhothai in present-day north central Thailand. A trading town on the routes between the Mon, Tai and Xian polities, it had become a city-state by 1127, and the events of 1238 under Si Inthrathit are traditionally taken as the kingdom's formation, although how they should be read is disputed. It is traditionally held to have reached its greatest extent under Ram Khamhaeng, from 1349 it was a tributary of Ayutthaya, and it passed under Ayutthaya in 1438. The ruins of its capital are preserved in the Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Quote, Second paragraph
The inscription says it was made for the occasion of setting up a stone throne for King Ramkhamhaeng (r. 1279-1298, Sukhothai’s third king) amidst a sugar palm grove that the king had previously planted when he first became king.
