Geomorphology

Surface-shaping processes that erode, transport and deposit rock and sediment, the branch of physical geography that explains why the land looks the way it does. Belongs here: erosion, weathering, mass wasting, deposition and sedimentation, karstification, aeolian processes, coastal processes and the rock cycle. Does not belong here: a deep-earth process such as plate tectonics or volcanism that builds the land up from below rather than sculpting its surface, held under Tectonics and Volcanism.
