The Delmarva Peninsula is a peninsula on the East Coast of the United States occupied mostly by the state of Delaware along with the Eastern Shore portions of Maryland and Virginia. It runs about 170 miles long, narrowing from about 70 miles wide at its center to 12 miles at its northern isthmus, and is bordered by the Chesapeake Bay to the west and the Delaware River, Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean to the east.
