A long, narrow, deep coastal inlet with steep walls, carved where a glacier flowing to the sea eroded a U-shaped valley well below sea level, which then flooded with seawater once the ice retreated. Norway, Chile and New Zealand's fjord coastlines are among the world's most striking results of this landform-carving process.
