Indochinese Peninsula

The Indochinese Peninsula is a large peninsula in Southeast Asia extending south from the Asian mainland between the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea. It contains Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, along with the western part of Malaysia, and its interior is dominated by several major river systems, including the Mekong, Irrawaddy and Chao Phraya, that flow south from highlands near the Tibetan Plateau toward the sea. The peninsula's monsoon climate and river-fed lowlands have long supported dense agricultural populations, while its mountainous spine separates the major river valleys from one another.
