An asymmetric bedrock knob shaped by an overriding glacier, smoothed and gently sloped on the up-ice side where the ice abraded the rock, and steep, rough and plucked on the down-ice side where the ice tore blocks of rock away as it passed. The contrasting texture of its two faces lets geologists read the direction a vanished glacier once flowed.
