A dry, temperate grassland landscape with few or no trees, typically found in continental interior climates too dry for forest but with just enough seasonal rainfall to sustain grass rather than desert vegetation. The vast steppe belt stretching across Eurasia, from Hungary to Mongolia, is the type example most often cited for this landform.
