The Verdon Gorge is a river canyon in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region of southeastern France, carved by the Verdon River through limestone over millions of years. Often described as one of Europe's most spectacular canyons, it reaches depths of several hundred meters, with turquoise waters at its base fed by glacial and karst sources upstream, and its cliffs are a major destination for climbing, hiking and canyoning. The gorge feeds into the artificial Lac de Sainte-Croix at its western end.
