Etosha National Park is a national park in northwestern Namibia and one of the largest national parks in Africa, first proclaimed as a game reserve in March 1907 under German colonial administration and later reestablished as a national park. The park takes its name from the vast Etosha Pan, a seasonal salt pan that dominates its center and draws large concentrations of elephant, lion, rhinoceros and antelope to the waterholes along its edges during the dry season. It is administered by Namibia's Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
