Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park spans the border of Botswana and South Africa in the southern Kalahari Desert, combining the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park established in South Africa in 1931 with Botswana's Gemsbok National Park into a single unified area agreed in 2000. Covering roughly 38,000 square kilometers, about three quarters of it in Botswana, the park allows free movement of wildlife across the international border and functions as a single ecological unit. Its red dunes and dry riverbeds along the Nossob and Auob rivers support more than 470 recorded species, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, gemsbok, springbok, and more than 200 bird species.
