West Coast National Park

West Coast National Park lies about 88 kilometers north of Cape Town in South Africa's Western Cape and was established in 1985, covering about 363 square kilometers around the Langebaan Lagoon within the UNESCO Cape West Coast Biosphere Reserve. Recognized by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area, the park is known for its bird life and for spring wildflowers that bloom from August to September, especially in its Postberg section. The Langebaan Lagoon, a Ramsar wetland site, hosts migratory Palearctic birds, while the park's coastal islands support breeding colonies of African penguins and Cape gannets.
