Point Pelee National Park

Point Pelee National Park sits in Essex County in southwestern Ontario, Canada, extending into Lake Erie as the southernmost point of mainland Canada. Established on May 29, 1918, it was the first national park in Canada created specifically for conservation, and at 1,564 hectares it is Canada's smallest national park. The park is internationally known for bird migration, hosting between roughly 347 and 360 recorded bird species, and draws birdwatchers in especially large numbers during the spring migration in May.
