Hallingskarvet National Park

Hallingskarvet National Park lies across Hol Municipality in Buskerud county and the Ulvik and Aurland municipalities of Vestland county in Norway, established by the government on 22 December 2006 over 450 square kilometers. It protects the Hallingskarv plateau and adjoining high mountain terrain to the west, including the Vargebreen glacier and the valleys of Satedalen, Lengjedalen, Ynglesdalen and part of Raggsteindalen, rising to 1,933 meters at Folarskardnuten. Large stocks of wild reindeer, whose habitat drove the park's creation, share terrain shaped by repeated ice ages, along with vulnerable alpine plant species.
