Narew National Park lies in the Podlaskie Voivodeship of northeastern Poland, established in 1996 and covering about 74 square kilometers along a 35-kilometer stretch of the Narew River. It protects a swampy, braided river valley of wetlands, black alder forest and white willow stands between the towns of Suraz and Rzedziany, and is recognized as a Ramsar wetland site; most of the land within its boundaries remains privately owned by small farmers rather than the state.
