Zion National Park is a national park of the United States in southwestern Utah, near the town of Springdale. It sits at the junction of the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin, and Mojave Desert regions, giving it a unique geography and a variety of life zones that support unusual plant and animal diversity, including 289 species of birds, 75 mammals, and 32 reptiles across desert, riparian, woodland, and coniferous forest zones. The parks terrain includes mountains, canyons, buttes, mesas, monoliths, rivers, slot canyons, and natural arches, and its most prominent feature is Zion Canyon, fifteen miles long and up to 2,640 feet deep, carved by the North Fork of the Virgin River through reddish and tan Navajo Sandstone. The park attracted nearly five million visitors in 2025.
