Los Quetzales National Park lies about 97 kilometers from San Isidro de El General in Costa Rica, within the Central Conservation Area, and takes its name from the resplendent quetzal that inhabits its cloud forest. It was established in 2006 under Decree 32981-MINAE and covers about 50 square kilometers, predominantly cloud forest, bordered on its north, west, and south sides by the Los Santos Forest Reserve. Part of the park falls within the Turberas de Talamanca Ramsar site, designated 2 February 2003, and its facilities remain limited to a small ranger station and a mountain road.
