Namaqua National Park

National Park

Namaqua National Park lies on the Atlantic coast of Namaqualand in South Africa's Northern Cape, was established in 2001, and covers about 1,368 square kilometers within the Succulent Karoo biome, a global biodiversity hotspot holding the largest concentration of succulent plant species in the world. The park protects roughly 4,000 plant species, over 1,000 of them found nowhere else, and is best known for spectacular displays of spring wildflowers, including daisies, lilies, and aloes, that bloom across the landscape each August and September. It is also home to fauna such as the speckled padloper tortoise, the world's smallest tortoise species, and numerous arachnids.
