Gashaka Gumti National Park

Gashaka Gumti National Park is Nigeria's largest national park, created in 1991 from two earlier game reserves in Taraba and Adamawa states near the border with Cameroon. It covers about 6,402 square kilometers, with savanna grassland in its northern sector and rugged mountainous terrain, deep valleys and montane forest in the south, including Chappal Waddi, Nigeria's highest mountain. The park is an important water catchment for the Benue River and includes enclaves where local Fulani pastoralists continue to farm and graze livestock.
