Hell's Gate National Park

Hell's Gate National Park lies near Lake Naivasha in Kenya's Rift Valley, about 90 kilometers from Nairobi in Nakuru County, established in 1984 and covering about 68.25 square kilometers at an elevation of roughly 1,900 meters. It is named for a narrow break in the cliffs once fed by a tributary of a prehistoric lake, and its landscape includes the Fischer's Tower and Central Tower volcanic plugs, the red-walled Hell's Gate Gorge, and hot springs with sulfuric water. The park hosts lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, zebra, eland and hartebeest, and more than 103 recorded bird species including the bearded vulture and Verreaux's eagle.
