Bannerghatta National Park

Bannerghatta National Park lies about 22 kilometers south of Bangalore in Karnataka, India, founded in 1970 and declared a national park in 1974 across roughly 260 square kilometers at elevations between 1245 and 1634 meters. Besides wildlife conservation the park holds ancient temples and rural villages within its bounds and forms part of an elephant corridor linking the BR Hills and Sathyamangalam forests, and it shelters Asian elephants, gaur, Indian leopards and sloth bears among more than 101 recorded bird species; a zoological garden component, Bannerghatta Biological Park, was added in 2002.
