Blackbuck National Park, Velavadar

Blackbuck National Park is a protected area of about 34 square kilometers in the Bhal region of Saurashtra in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat, India, established in 1976 on grassland once used for blackbuck hunting along the coastline of the Gulf of Khambhat. It is classified under IUCN Category II and its dense and sparse grasslands, shrubland and saline flats support the blackbuck as its primary species alongside the Indian wolf, striped hyena, Indian fox, golden jackal and nilgai, plus birds such as the lesser florican and marsh harrier, with active conservation programs for the blackbuck, wolf and lesser florican.
