Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park

Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, one of the largest national parks in Georgia, lies in the Lesser Caucasus and spans parts of the Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti and Shida Kartli regions, stretching from the resort town of Borjomi to Kharagauli across six municipalities. Established in 1995 and formally inaugurated in 2001 with support from the World Wildlife Fund and the German government, the park covers about 1,093 square kilometers of Caucasus mixed forest and is known for its diversity of geographical and ecological zones, its landscapes, its historical monuments and its rich flora and fauna. Combined with the adjoining Borjomi Nature Reserve, the protected area totals more than one percent of Georgia's entire territory.
