Daisen-Oki National Park spans Okayama, Shimane and Tottori prefectures in the Chugoku region of Japan, first designated as Daisen National Park on February 1, 1936 and expanded and renamed in 1961 to include the Oki Islands, covering about 319 square kilometers. Mount Daisen, the park's highest peak, anchors a landscape of volcanic mountains and plains that also includes Mount Sanbe and Mount Hobutsu. The park also protects the Izumo Plain, home to Izumo-taisha, one of Japan's oldest Shinto shrines, and the Oki Islands offshore.
