Hemis National Park is a high-elevation protected area near Hemis in the Leh district of Ladakh, India, about 50 kilometers from Leh, established in 1981 and covering about 4,400 square kilometers, making it the largest national park in India by area and the only one lying north of the Himalayas. It is one of three major wildlife protected areas in Ladakh and holds the highest recorded density of snow leopards of any protected area in the world.
