Kanger Valley National Park

Kanger Valley National Park, also known as Kanger Ghati National Park, lies in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, India, about 30 kilometers southeast of Jagdalpur, and has existed since July 1982 across roughly 200 square kilometers. It is regarded as one of the most biodiverse national parks in India, combining dense sal, teak and bamboo forest with the Tirathgarh waterfalls and subterranean limestone caves such as Kotumsar, Kailash and Dandak that hold stalactites and stalagmites, and in 2025 it was added to the UNESCO tentative World Heritage list. Its forests support tigers, leopards, sloth bears and sambar deer among 553 recorded plant species and 144 bird species including the Bastar hill myna.
