Kerama Shoto National Park protects the Kerama Islands of Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, designated on March 5, 2014 out of the former Okinawa Kaigan Quasi-National Park, covering about 940 square kilometers of land and surrounding waters across the municipalities of Tokashiki and Zamami. The park holds 248 species of reef-building coral and more than 620 native plant species, and is habitat for green sea turtles, wintering humpback whales and the Kerama deer.
