Kudremukh National Park

Kudremukh National Park spans Chikmagalur and Dakshina Kannada districts in Karnataka, India, its name meaning horse face after the shape of the mountain seen from one vantage point, and it protects about 601 square kilometers of tropical wet evergreen forest in the Western Ghats since 1987. Three major rivers, the Tunga, the Bhadra and the Netravathi, rise within the park, which receives roughly 7000 millimeters of rain a year across an altitude range from 100 to 1892 meters, and it is recognized as a Global Tiger Conservation priority area holding tigers, leopards, dholes, sloth bears, Malabar civets and lion tailed macaques among one of the twenty five biodiversity hotspots of the world.
