Minami Alps National Park

Minami Alps National Park protects the Akaishi Mountains of central Honshu, Japan, along the border of Shizuoka, Yamanashi and Nagano prefectures, established on June 1, 1964. The park stretches 55 kilometers with a maximum width of 18 kilometers, covering about 358 square kilometers and containing peaks above 3,000 meters including Kita-dake, Senjo-ga-take and Aino-dake. It safeguards the headwaters of the Fuji, Oi and Tenryu rivers, and its beech and stone pine forests are home to the Japanese serow, ptarmigan, Asiatic black bear and Sika deer.
