Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is a protected area of about 1728 square kilometers in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra, India, combining Tadoba National Park, first established in 1955, with the Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary, merged into the reserve in 1995. Classified under IUCN Category II and managed by the Maharashtra Forest Department, its dense teak forest and buffer zones across the Chimur and Andhari hill ranges shelter Bengal tigers, Indian leopards, sloth bears, gaur, sambar deer and dholes among about 195 bird species and 74 butterfly species, with mugger crocodiles living in Tadoba lake.
