Lahemaa National Park

Lahemaa National Park lies in northern Estonia, about 70 kilometers east of the capital Tallinn, with the Gulf of Finland to its north and the highway between Tallinn and Narva to its south. Covering 747 square kilometers, including 274.9 square kilometers of sea, it was the first area designated a national park in the former Soviet Union and is the largest park in Estonia and one of the largest in Europe. Its charter calls for the preservation, research and promotion of north Estonian landscapes, ecosystems, biodiversity and national heritage.
