Salamajärvi National Park spans the Central Ostrobothnia and Central Finland regions, across the municipalities of Perho, Kivijärvi, and Kinnula in the rugged Suomenselkä watershed area. Established in 1982 and classified IUCN Category II, the park covers about 62 square kilometers and is known for its diverse mire ecosystems and wilderness wildlife, with roughly 60 kilometers of marked trails through often rocky terrain. Managed by Metsähallitus, it recorded about 24,500 visitors in 2024.
