Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park

Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park is the largest national park in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, covering about 805 square kilometers of the Baltic Sea coast in the Vorpommern-Rugen district. It spans the Darss peninsula, the western coast of the island of Rugen, the island of Hiddensee, the island of Ummanz, numerous smaller islets, and the shallow lagoons between them. Established on October 1, 1990, the park is an internationally important resting site for tens of thousands of migratory cranes and geese each year.
