Jostedalsbreen National Park

Jostedalsbreen National Park in Vestland county, Norway, was established on 25 October 1991 to protect Jostedalsbreen, the largest glacier on the European mainland. The park covers 1,310 square kilometers, of which about 800 square kilometers is glacier ice, spread across the municipalities of Luster, Sogndal, Gloppen, Sunnfjord and Stryn, with Lodalskapa its highest peak at 2,083 meters and the glacier itself ranging from 2,018 meters down to 350 meters in elevation. The Briksdalsbreen glacier arm draws more than 300,000 visitors a year, and the park maintains three visitor centers offering education about the glacier and surrounding landscape.
